2007-08 Creative Expressions Program
We’d like to introduce you to a new program supported by East Parent Group as well as faculty and staff: The Creative Expressions Program.
The Creative Expressions program is an opportunity for students to express themselves creatively and artistically by interpreting a given theme. In the past, when East’s Parent Group was a PTA affiliate, we participated in the Reflections© program. This is also a program where students’ creative expression is fostered, but with a lot less restrictions than if we were involved in a national program. The theme for 2008 “I can make a difference by…”*. We are asking students to finish that sentence by expressing themselves through music, visual art, photography or literature. All entries must be new, original artwork or compositions inspired by this theme and they will be returned after all prizes have been awarded. There is no limit to the number of entries a student may submit. In April, (exact date to be determined) watch the Parent Group calendar), there will be a reception during which all entries will be displayed, all entrants recognized and 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place prices awarded in each category. All entries will be displayed and participants recognized at a reception in April. The contest runs from Friday, February 1st, through Monday, March 3rd, 2008. Entries can be turned into the school office in the box labeled “Creative Expressions”.
Still have questions? Contact Pam Shapiro or Laura Hedgecock. We’re in the directory!
* The theme, “I can make a difference by….” is the theme used by the National PTA’s 2008 Reflections© contest. East’s Parent Group is not a PTA affiliate, nor is East participating in the PTA’s Reflections® contest.
