Saturday Morning Difference

You wake up on Saturday morning,
Eight o’clock sharp,
Put on your work gloves,
Junk pants,
Paint shirt,
Ready to work,
As a clerk you make nothing in the scheme of things,
Your clothes are ragged,
Your mind needs some work,
But you’re great in heart,
And ready to start,
To make a difference in the world,

With your old work shoes,
And your scraped up shovel,
And your scraped up arms from,
From moving rubble out of the way
So that some place may be made,
Your morale has taken a beating,
But to shelter those with out homes,
the pleasure from being able to help,
has made you proud,
has lifted your spirit up from the ground,

It’s taken away some of the loss,
This giving somebody someplace to stop,
to sleep, and
to hope.
